Empowering the Youth, Building the Future

For over two decades, EHAP has championed youth empowerment through innovative, community-based programs. With support from our development partners, we established the Ekwendeni Youth Resource Centre, a safe space offering HIV testing, counselling, sports, and life skills education for young people. Today, it serves as a vibrant hub for dozens of youth clubs across our 400-square-kilometre catchment area of Ekwendeni, using music, dance, and drama to spread messages about HIV prevention, gender equality, and sexual and reproductive health. Our reach extends to 21 primary schools, where in-school youth clubs support boys and girls to stay in school, fight early marriage, and speak out against gender-based violence. We also run children’s corners that offer safe learning spaces for younger children and psychosocial support. To economically empower out-of-school and unemployed youth, EHAP provides vocational training in tailoring, giving young people the skills they need to earn a living, support their families, and become reliable, contributing members of their communities.

Before I joined the tailoring training, I had nothing to do and no hope. Now I sew clothes and earn money to support my siblings. I'm grateful for the support, you gave me a future I didn’t know was possible.”
