About us
What we do!
The Ekwendeni Hospital Aids Programme (EHAP) is a vibrant community based organization rooted within the Synod of Livingstonia CCAP. Established in 1989, EHAP has been at the forefront of the fight against HIV & AIDS while tirelessly working to uplift the living standards of people in Northern Malawi, with a special focus on the rural communities of Ekwendeni. For over 3 decades, our mission has driven us to create lasting change in the lives of those who are most vulnerable with a wide range community empowerment programs that focus on building resilience and empowerment to rural and underserved communities
Our mission
To improve the living standards of people living in poverty in rural and underserved communities of Northern Malawi, creating an enabling environment where access to resources, health, education, and opportunities is addressed for a brighter and sustainable future.
Our Goal
At EHAP, our overarching goal is to foster healthier, more resilient communities by addressing the critical health, social, and economic challenges faced by the people in our region. We are dedicated to ensuring that everyone, especially those living in poverty, has the opportunity to live with dignity, access quality healthcare, and build sustainable livelihoods.
Our Strengths & Collaborations
Our success is deeply rooted in the strength of our collaborations. We work hand in hand with a diverse range of partners, including donors, government bodies, community members, local leaders, and other local NGOs. Our partnerships with government departments such as the Social Welfare, District Nutrition Coordination Committee (DNCC), and District Child Protection Committee (DCPC) are pivotal in extending our reach and amplifying our impact across the 26 areas of Ekwendeni. We also draw our strength from the communities we serve. By engaging local leaders and community members in every step of our projects, we ensure that our interventions are not only effective but also sustainable. Our approach fosters a sense of ownership and accountability, which is critical to the long-term success of our initiatives.
Our Commitment
At EHAP, we are driven by a profound belief in the power of community, collaboration, and compassion. Our journey is one of hope and resilience, as we remain steadfast in our commitment to improving the health and well-being of the people in Northern Malawi. Together, with our partners and the communities we serve, we are building a brighter, healthier future for all.
